About Pacman

Description

Pac-Man is a labyrinth-based action game in which the player must navigate the eponymous character through a maze. The aim of the game is for Blinky (red), Pinky (pink), Inky (cyan), and Clyde (red) to eat all of the dots in the maze while avoiding four different colored ghosts following him (orange). When Pac-Man consumes all of the dots, the player advances to the next level. If Pac-Man comes into contact with a ghost, he will lose a life; the game will end after all lives have been lost. Each of the four ghosts has its own artificial intelligence (A.I.) or "personality," with Blinky pursuing Pac-Man directly, Pinky and Inky attempting to corner Pac-Man, and Clyde fluctuating between following and fleeing Pac-Man.

At each of the maze's four corners, large blinking "energizers," or "power pellets," are installed. If you consume them, the ghosts will become blue, have a disoriented expression, and reverse direction. Pac-Man may eat blue ghosts for bonus points; after being eaten, the ghosts' eyes return to the maze's center box, where they "regenerate" and resume their normal activity. You receive extra points if you devour a lot of blue ghosts in a succession. After a certain amount of time, blue-colored ghosts will flash white before reverting to their previous, lethal appearance. A bonus item - usually a fruit – appears beneath the primary box when you devour a certain number of dots in a level, which you can eat for bonus points.

The game grows more difficult as the player goes; the ghosts become faster, and the energizers' effect wears off, until the ghosts are no longer blue and edible. Pac-Man and the ghosts may go to the opposite side of the screen via two "warp tunnels" on either side of the maze. The speed with which ghosts enter and exit these passageways slows down. The level is shown by the fruit icon at the bottom of the screen. In between stages, there are short segments with Pac-Man and Blinky in funny and humorous situations. At the 256th level, the game becomes unplayable due to an integer overflow that affects the game's memory.
